Stephen McNeil is Leader of the Official Opposition in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly.
He is Leader of the Nova Scotia Liberal Party and has proudly served the riding of Annapolis in the Nova Scotia Legislature since 2003.
As Opposition Leader, Stephen is committed to holding the government accountable for the promises they’ve made to Nova Scotians. The Liberal Caucus will continue to promote Liberal values through ideas and constructive policy alternatives.
Stephen knows that strong leadership is required to help us all meet our goals - and reach our potential as a province. Under his leadership, Liberals have been strong advocates for accessible healthcare, fairness in taxation, poverty alleviation and sustainable energy development.
By strengthening our economy, we can secure and improve the programs and services we all value. As a former small business owner, Stephen knows firsthand that government has a key role to play in stimulating business and fostering a vibrant, competitive economy.
Like so many Nova Scotians, family has played a central role in Stephen’s life. Growing up in a large family in the Annapolis Valley taught him about the value of community, inspired him to give back through volunteerism and guided him towards a career in public service.
Stephen and his wife, Andrea, reside in Upper Granville, Annapolis County. They are the proud parents of two children, Colleen and Jeffrey.
