MCNEIL ACCLAIMED AS LIBERAL CANDIDATE IN INVERNESS
Date: Monday September 21, 2009

(Halifax, NS) Over 100 enthusiastic Liberals and supporters gathered
in Port Hood last night to acclaim Ian McNeil as the Liberal candidate
for Inverness in the provincial by-election scheduled for Oct. 20th.

“Without a doubt, the people of Inverness need a strong
representative and a voice in Halifax,” said Liberal leader Stephen
McNeil, the guest speaker at the nomination meeting. “I believe Ian is
not only that voice, but an important part of Nova Scotia’s Official
Opposition.”

Born in Port Hood in 1961, Ian McNeil hosted CBC Cape Breton’s
Information Morning for twelve years and has lived in the riding almost
exclusively since 1987. McNeil and his wife Margaret have a 23 year-old
son named Hunter.

After McNeil’s quarter-century in journalism, the active community
leader now owns and operates a small business.

“There is a deep Liberal tradition in Inverness and I’m proud to be
a part of it,” stated Ian McNeil. “I’m honoured to join the
Liberal team under Stephen McNeil's leadership - I’ve been impressed
with his work ethic and his ability to connect to Nova Scotians.”

“I’m convinced that Stephen and I could serve well the people of
Inverness riding.”
