REGAN: PROVINCE WILL CONTRIBUTE TO BEDFORD RINK PROJECT

(Halifax, NS) Bedford-Birch Cove MLA Kelly Regan is today
congratulating the people of her riding for convincing the NDP
government to move ahead on funding its portion of the much needed
Bedford quad-rink complex.

“This project has been needed for a long time,” said Regan.
“Waiting for infrastructure dollars to flow has been especially
difficult for the people of the Bedford-Birch Cove area. It was the hard
work of the dedicated people in our community that ultimately made this
rink a reality.”

The provincial government has confirmed it will fund one-third of the
cost of the project, expected to cost $42 million dollars. The future of
the complex was in jeopardy when the Harper government refused to
participate in the funding partnership; however, Halifax Regional
Municipality committed to covering the federal government’s share.

“This project has been a priority for my community and for the
Halifax Regional Municipality,” said Regan. “It will be a great
benefit to the people of Bedford- Birch Cove and the surrounding
areas.”
