Accomplishments
Hi Folks,
Here are what we have accomplished so far. With your help and support we can accomplish much
more.
1. Contined push for Paving in Digby-Annapolis.
- Completed the Smith Cove Interchange.
- paved 40 Km of sections of secondary highways within the riding.
- plans for an interchange at Cornwallis are started and will soon be approved.
- Tenders are now issued to repave a section of the 101 highway Annapolis to Mary Jane Riley road in Cornwallis.
- Also the resurfacing of gravel on many of the secondary roads.
- Throughout the riding we have made it safer by cutting bushes and alders around corners driveways, and intersections.
- Efforts have been secure property for the completion of Highway 101 from Digby to Weymouth.
2. Secured a $250,000 Community Grant for the Fire hall in Freeport.
3. Helped Digby Harbour Port Authority to get the Digby Wharf back in the hands of the community.
4. Worked hard to bring two full time Nurse Practitioners for Digby and Area.
5. Worked hard in getting thirteen beds for the " Extended Care Unit " opened at Digby General
Hospital.
6. Helped gain an extension for the Digby - Saint John ferry until January 2011.
7. Helped five Legions to get recognized by Democracy 250. It is very important to honor our
Veterans.
8. Helped low income families with the " Low Income Home Renovation Grants " of $750,000 for the
riding.
9. Worked closely with community groups and individuals to bring their concerns to the floor of the
legislature. Helping many community groups to receive grants.
10. Helped to interview for recruitment for potential Doctors to come to the area.
11. Regularly communicated to the people of Digby - Annapolis riding of community meetings,
events, and issue through my monthly column report.
12. Attended numerous fund raisers and town hall meetings.
