Today, Health and Wellness critic Kelly Regan will reintroduce a bill to expand access to at-home HPV tests for all people from age 25 onward who have a cervix.
Medical experts have advocated for this preventive measure that has been adopted in P.E.I. and British Columbia. By expanding the program to all people age 25 onward, experts believe the initiative can eradicate cervical cancer in the future.
“Investing in preventive healthcare is crucial to improving our healthcare system for Nova Scotians,” said Regan. “The Houston government has the opportunity to eradicate cervical cancer through vaccination and early detection. Other provinces are doing this, and we can too.”
